Serum tube with clot accelerator and granules

Used to separate serum from coagulated whole blood.

Serum serves to study the majority of blood parameters and to search for antibodies.

Tubes include a sprayed accelerator that helps producing a neat and well-defined clot and allows a fast clot retraction.

As a precaution and to facilitate interaction between the watery part of blood and the sprayed accelerator, the tube must be softly shaken (5 times minimum) in order to homogenise the blend.

Clot retraction starts almost immediately and at a faster speed than in a glass tube, and serum can be obtained in about 12 minutes.

Tubes contain inert rounded granules especially designed to act as a compact barrier between the clot and the serum.

Tubes withstand centrifugation at 1.500g. for 15 minutes.

After centrifugation, use a pipette to collect the serum. it is recommended not to decant serum directly from tubes.

With these tubes we achieve a higher clotting speed than the obtained with the glass tubes. The advantage achieved is around 40-50% over glass tubes.

Tube features:

Ultraclear polypropylene tubes and red low density polyethylene caps. Chemically inert. Labels indicate product code, batch number and expiry date (2 years).

Expiry date 24 months from manufacturing date.

  • 600400: 13x75 mm rounded bottom, for 4 ml of blood. Flange cap (with a raised top) without skirt, code 307106.
  • 600300: 15x100 mm rounded bottom, for 9 ml of blood. Cap code 305006 featuring an outer skirt, an inner chamber, and ergonomically designed to provide easy single-handed opening and to avoid contact between the blood and the tube cap or the user’s fingers.
  • Do not leave to sun exposure for a prolonged time. It is recommended to store tubes at a temperature below 45ºC.

    Dimensions of the tubes:

    600300:

    External diameter: 15.9 ± 0.1 mm

    Internal diameter: 13.6 ± 0.1 mm

    Length: 98.9 ± 0.1 mm

    600400:

    External diameter: 12.7 ± 0.1 mm

    Internal diameter: 10.9 ± 0.1 mm

    Length: 73.7 ± 0.1 mm
